Helldivers 2 devs promise tweaks to meteor showers after player backlash

They also had some advice...

Planetary hazards, a new addition to Helldivers 2, can significantly turn the tide of any battle. These environmental catastrophes, such as meteor showers and fire tornados, can either work in your favor or against you.

Within days of their inclusion, some players are suggesting it's too much the latter.

The new weather hazards can help you battle both Terminid and Automaton hordes. Still, in the chaotic world of Helldivers 2, you are just as likely to be smashed by a passing meteor as you are by a Bile Titan.

Player frustration is now building, with many in the community feeling a meteor landing on your head happens without warning; the fact they can also wipe out mission objectives such as hives or towers only adds to the frustration.

One player who wasn't enjoying the experience sent their criticisms straight to Arrowhead's CEO, Johan Pilestedt, asking on X (formerly Twitter): Are there discussions being had to potentially lessen the damage or make meteors more avoidable?”.

In characteristic fashion, Pilestedt responded positively and even offered a helpful hint:

“Yeah, our team is working on it. For now - there is a sign where they will hit (a faint light on the ground)."

Thankfully, the devs' ability to mold the Helldivers 2 experience around the growing player base has become a hallmark of the title since its launch earlier this year. You feel that sometime next week, we will be informing you that meteors have been nerfed.

In other Helldivers 2 news, the liberation of Tien Kwan occurred four times faster than the devs expected, leading to chaos, with the highly-anticipated arrival of the first mech - now available to players - seeming to be the root of the issues.
