G2 Esports has opted to bench one of their newest pickups, Jonas "Jonka" Kaczmarzyk, after the team failed to qualify for the 2022 Six Invitational.
After MnM Gaming finished the 2020 EU Challenger League season as runners-up and then lost to Rogue in the relegation game, Jonka was picked up by G2 Esports.
Jonka and Lucas "Hungry" Reich replaced the Finish duo of Juhani "Kantoraketti" Toivonen and Aleksi "UUNO" Työppönen after G2 was knocked out of SI 2021 by the North American Challenger League team Parabellum.
In the two months after joining, Jonka helped G2 to a second-place EUL finish during Stage 2 followed by a much lower seventh place Stage 3 result. Their Stage 2 results were enough to qualify them for the Mexico Major, but they exited the tournament in the group stage.
Most recently, a loss to the Russian roster of DED Inside during the SI 2022 open qualifiers ended their hopes of competing at SI. That result ensured that SI 2022 would be the first time the G2 organization won’t be present since they joined the R6 ecosystem.
Across this time, Jonka played a primary support role and consistently sat as the bottom statistical player on the team with SiegeGG Ratings of 0.92, 0.73, and 0.78.
Now, G2 has begun what will likely be a major reshuffle of the roster by benching Jonka, giving him time to look for a new roster ahead of the transfer window’s open at the end of this month.
