Rainbow Six Siege Esports LATAM official X account (formerly known as Twitter) unveiled the decision to suspend the Maycome Evolve duo Valentino "VJ" Jaime and Gonzalo "DirTy" Acosta from the R6 BLAST ecosystem and other Ubisoft-operated tournaments for match-fixing, taking part in prohibited betting activities, and using unauthorized third-party modifications. The ban will be active for two years and it will expire after the conclusion of the Six Invitational 2027.
Here's part of BLAST and Ubisoft's joint statement in English, which was posted on Reddit:
After a thorough investigation, it has been determined that two players from Maycam Evolve, Dirty and VJ, were involved in match-fixing, prohibited betting activities as per Section 8.5 of the Global Rulebook, and the use of unauthorized third-party modifications during Stage 2 of the league.
As a result of this investigation, and following a detailed review of all relevant matches, it has been decided to nullify the results of the matches in which Maycam Evolve participated during Rounds 6, 9, and 10 of Stage 2. These matches will officially be recorded with a score of 0-7 in favor of their opponents.
The affected matches were Maycam Evolve's wins against the Knights (7-3), ALPHA Team (7-2), and 7REX Team (7-3). Thanks to those extra nine points, the team finished in LATAM South's second place and eventually qualified for the LATAM League 2024 Stage 2 playoffs in Mexico.
Instead, Maycome Evolve will receive three 0-7 losses, which has pushed the squad from fourth to tenth place on the overall standings for Stage 2 — which means the team will go from earning US$13,500 in prize pool money to US$9,000.
So far, both VJ and DirTy have yet to talk about the suspensions. We will update this article as soon as more information is revealed.
