It's finally here: the latest Rainbow Six Siege map. Siege fans have been waiting for three years for a new map — years of reworked maps have left fans salivating for truly new content.

Emerald Plains is the name of the newest Rainbow Six Siege map.

Rainbow Six Siege is a game primarily centered on efficient strategy, oftentimes the clock works against you, or there can be gaps in your defenses that attackers can exploit. Here are the best strategies for Emerald Plains in Rainbow Six Siege.

Best attacking strategies for Emerald Plains

Attacking this map is going to be difficult for the first several months. The interior of the map lends it to extended bunker setups, like a mix of Fortress and Theme Park.

In order to make this easier, ban Kaid. There are many exterior reinforceable walls that can hinder your progress with a Kaid on the board.

Additionally, many of the sites create funnels in through small doors. In order to maximize the discomfort defenders experience when sitting on their own site, consider bringing two hard breachers: Ace and Hibana would be a winning combination here.

Best attacking operators to use in Emerald Plains

Ace - Ranged hard breaching capabilities are going to be king on Emerald Plains. The bomb sites are bunkers, and there will be many extended setups. Take as much ranged hard breach as you can -- Ace and Hibana are going to be a winning combination.

Hibana - Again, ranged hard breach will be the name of the game. You must get the operators on the site as uncomfortable as humanly possible. Try taking down a couple of those hard walls, the defense can't reinforce them all!

Maverick  - With Thatcher more than likely banned, you need an alternative for shredding exterior walls. In the current attacking operator arsenal, there is no easy way to bypass electrified walls except with Maverick. He'll be invaluable.

Nomad - Nomad is a mainstay for most attacking lineups, but she'll be especially crucial here. With so many hallways and small doors, a great strategy for any attacker would be to bait defenders into going on low-percentage flanks.

Best defending strategies for Emerald Plains

Extended setups will be the key. The rooms on Emerald Plains are large, and are conducive to "bunker" setups. A dynamic defense will spread these setups into the hallways and other large rooms, but leave enough utility on their bomb sites to fall back on.

To extend your site setups, you'll need at least one operator with a shotgun or the Bailiff. Make sure you're taking some operator with dynamic destruction, and you'll likely be fine. Make sure to not overpeek as well -- you want to make the attackers stall, not outright kill them.

Best defending operators to use in Emerald Plains

Mute - Mute offers a lot of flexibility on this map, from forcing attackers to waste a bit more time to take reinforced walls to hiding your exact setups. Mute won't perform as well as Kaid or Vigil, but he's a great medium between the two that will undoubtedly help with the goal of an extended setup -- slowing down the attackers.

Kaid - By now, seasoned Siege vets understand that Kaid claws can go through just about anything. Kaid will be an invaluable asset to have on Emerald Plains, which features many multi-panel hard walls that will be necessary to defend. Kaid is a must pick on this map.

Azami - Azami will be powerful on just about every map, but will be dominant if you can keep the attackers from hard breaching. Her ability to completely take away angles will be key to finishing off rounds.

Vigil - Emerald Plains is going to lend itself to spawn-peeking and long flanks. Who better to take advantage of that than Vigil? His ability to hide from drones will also stall the attackers out -- they can't press when their flanks are open.

Best mentality to have for Emerald Plains

Attackers: Be patient. Use hard breaching gadgets to take control of the large, bunker-esque rooms of Emerald Plains. Think of the map like Theme Park.

Defenders: Keep the attackers uncomfortable, but don't press for kills. A man advantage is going to be lethal for any coordinated attacking side, always keep the numbers even or in your favor. That means peek and flank, but be careful -- wasting your life is bad on this map.
