The impending nerf to the Kar98k marksman rifle won't fix Warzone's boring meta according to fans.
As part of the Season 4 Reloaded update for the battle royale, Raven Software plans on implementing a dose of weapon balancing that's expected to arrive alongside the Reclaimer 18 shotgun.
Since arriving in Season 4, the Kar98k has skyrocketed in popularity, establishing itself as the strongest marksman rifle in the arsenal thanks to its high damage output and mobility. Despite the incoming adjustments, fans believe it won't be enough to fix the current state of the game.
On June 20th, 2024, Warzone content creator Metaphor claimed the developers are "gutting" the overpowered Kar98k.
While many are looking forward to the nerf, a number of fans believe the changes don't go far enough. "[The Kar98k] was fun but got pretty stale. Bring back ARs," says one fan. Another adds: "I think it needs a slight nerf but I also think the biggest thing is we need way more buffs. Imagine if every meta from the game was currently available. It'd be a blast."
The roadmap often shares intel on what an update has in store but players will have to wait until the patch notes arrive to see the full extent of the changes.
As with all leaks, it's important to take them with a grain of salt until Raven Software shares more information on how it plans to balance the Kar98k and revive what's become a stale meta.
