What is VCT Masters Shanghai?
VCT Masters Shanghai is Valorant's second major international competition of the VCT 2024 season. It will start two months after VCT Masters Madrid, which took place in March 2023. Back then, Sentinels lifted the trophy and became international champions for the first time in over two years.
However, VCT Masters Shanghai will be slightly different, starting with its format and the number of teams.
Location and dates
VCT Masters Shanghai will be played in Shanghai, China, from May 23 to June 9.
Teams
VCT Masters Shanghai will include twelve teams — four more than what we saw at VCT Masters Madrid.

Format
The format used at VCT 2024 Masters Shanghai hasn't been unveiled yet. Considering that Riot decided to use a Swiss Format for Masters Madrid before the start of the playoffs, we could see a modified Swiss Format where the best four teams moved to the Upper Bracket while the fifth and sixth seeds moved to the Lower Bracket.
We will update this as soon as more information is released regarding the format of the VCT Masters Shanghai.
Venues
VCT Masters Shanghai will be played in two different venues, including the Valo Arena and the Mercedes-Benz Arena.
While the initial phase of the tournament will be played in the Valo Arena, the home of the VCT 2024 China League, the playoff matches will be played at the Mercedes-Benz Arena. The stadium, located in Pudong, Shanghai, has a capacity of 18,000 people.
People will be able to purchase their tickets starting from April 11 at 11 PM PT.
