Earlier today, Ubisoft unveiled all of the details regarding the R6 South Breach 2024, Europe’s official competition for the region’s Tier 2 scene.
Unlike the edition held during Year 8, the R6 South Breach 2024 will only admit Tier 2 rosters. Participants will also have the chance to earn Tier 2 Circuit Points, with the current standings looking as follows:
- Team Secret Academy: 100 Points
- Project X: 90
- Dunlimited: 80
- DinkelDoppelKekse: 70
- Eminem Academy: 60
- LHV: 60
- Into the Breach Academy: 50
- Rival Esports Europe: 50
The six teams with the most points by the end of the R6 North Rainbow Rumble will qualify to compete in the new Europe Tier 2 Finals, which will be held at EPICLAN44 and will take place in England between the 22nd and the 23rd of February. Aspiring teams and players can register to compete at the R6 South Breach 2024 here.
According to Ubisoft’s blog post, the R6 South Breach 2024 will have a prize pool of 20,000€. The competition will be divided into three phases:
- Phase 1: It will consist of two swiss-stage tournaments where the best three teams from each will qualify for Phase 2. The remaining two spots will be granted through a last chance qualifier in a single-elimination bracket.
- Phase 2: The eight teams will be divided into two groups of four, all teams will qualify for Phase 3. In other words, Phase 2 is for seeding.
- Phase 3: The teams will be placed on a double-elimination bracket. The format of the games is still unclear, although we expect all games to be BO3s except for the grand final, which should be a BO5 clash.
With the open qualifiers kicking off on October 17 and the grand final being played on December 15, the R6 South Breach 2024 will last for two months.
