Team Heretics upset VCT Masters Shanghai champions Gen.G Esports and qualify for Valorant Champions Seoul's playoffs

Team Heretics have qualified for the Valorant Champions Seoul playoffs.

Team Heretics redeemed themselves after defeating the VCT Masters Shanghai champions Gen.G Esports. Despite losing the first map of the series, Los Niños completed the comeback with wins on Lotus (13-11) and Bind (13-10).

The South Koreans had a great start to the game with a 13-11 win on Abyss. With an ACS of 327 and 28 kills, Kim "Meteor" Tae-o was the best player of the map.

Although the South Korean player would also lead Gen.G Esportso on Lotus, Team Heretics won the second map after an outstanding comeback that saw Los Niños going from 5-10 to 13-11 on the scoreboard.

Team Heretics' great momentum was extended to Bind as they concluded the first half of the map with a 8-4 lead. Despite the South Koreans' best efforts to make a comeback, the Europeans closed the final map of the series with a 13-10 win.

This is Gen.G Esports' first international defeat since the South Koreans' grand final loss at the VCT Masters Madrid. Overall, the South Koreans have only lost two out of thirteen international matches this season.

Meanwhile, today's victory sees Team Heretics moving to the Valorant Champions playoffs for the first time in the organization's history. Therefore, the Europeans have already secured a Top 8 finish and US$50,000.
