Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection: Does it have crossplay?

Will you be able to join forces across platforms?

Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection will bring the first two beloved Battlefront titles in the franchise to modern platforms, filled with quality-of-life changes and online play. But will it include crossplatform play?

With the game being released on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam, featuring online play for up to 64 players in a single match, crossplay seems like a no-brainer for the Battlefront Classic Collection.

With that said, here's everything we know about crossplay in the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection.

Is Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection crossplay?

Sad news, as it was confirmed that the Battlefront Classic Collection won't feature crossplay capabilities among all platforms.

A Reddit user posted in early February a response from an Aspyr developer, the team behind the Classic Collection, confirming the game will lack such a key component. This means that, for example, if you have the PC versions and are looking to play with friends on any other console, you won't be able to queue up together.

The game will ship with cross-generation play at the very least. This means that if you're playing on an Xbox One, you'll get to join lobbies with those on Xbox Series S and X. Similarly if you're on PlayStation 4, you can link up with PS5 users.

Naturally, this means that PC players and Nintendo Switch owners are left to dry, only able to queue up with players using the same version of the game as they are.

The developers at Aspyr haven't confirmed if crossplay is something they'll implement in the near future. As soon as we have more information about it, we'll be sure to update this article accordingly.
