Spacestation Gaming have been eliminated from the Six Invitational 2023 after losing to M80 in the second round of the lower bracket.
It has been a tumultuous event for the NAL side, as their only victory at the tournament came against Elevate in their first match of the group stage. From then, the Americans lost to G2 Esports, KOI, and w7m esports.
Heading into Spacestation's first match today, the odds had been with them. Heroic had lost every series against NAL teams at the Six Invitational 2023. First, the Europeans lost to DarkZero Esports, with M80 becoming the second NAL squad to defeat Heroic. Their third loss came yesterday as Oxygen Esports beat the Danish organization in the most one-sided series of the day.
While Spacestation won that match in a surprisingly strong 2-0, they were brought down to Earth afterwards as M80 took a 2-0 win themselves to knock them out. While the first map needed M80 to come back from 2-4 down to win 7-5, Spacestation were powerless on the second as they slid to a 0-6 first half that soon became 1-7.
Spacestation Gaming are thus the second North American team to be eliminated from the Six Invitational 2023, following Soniqs.
