All eyes are on the upcoming Spotlight event, where Team 4 will not only reveal the major details about Season 15 of Overwatch 2 but also most of the big changes coming this year to the game.
However, some details about this upcoming season have already been revealed. As we wait for the complete reveal, we have gathered all the information we have so far.
Release date
Overwatch 2 Season 15 is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, February 18th. The corresponding update will go live at 11:00 am PT (7:00 pm GMT).
PC players will be able to preload the patch one or two days before its release through the Battle.net app. On the other hand, the preload for console players should start a few hours before its release.
Competitive updates
Since Season 15 marks the beginning of a new year in the game, Blizzard will take this chance to do a rank reset. This means all players will have to play their placement matches again to see where they place among the different ranks.
Through a developer update posted on the game's website, Overwatch 2 director, Aaron Keller, revealed and teased more of the things we can expect for Competitive. Here is a list of them:
- Rank distribution will be adjusted to allow more players to reach Champion.
- A new weapon variant is coming as part of the competitive rewards and he teased it will be "out of this world."
- New systems will be introduced to Competitive, but this will be announced during the Spotlight. Many believe this could be hero bans or maybe map votes.
- A 6v6 mini-competitive season will take place starting from midseason 15 and will probably conclude at the end of the same season.
- Clash maps will be removed from Competitive at the start of Season 15 as the team takes another look at this mode.
