Now that a new year is underway, the mid-season patch for Overwatch 2 Season 14 is dropping soon. Even though a hotfix was released a few days ago to make some hero changes, this will be the first major update for the game in 2025.
While we wait for any more information and the official patch notes, here is everything we know about the update along with a few of our speculations.
Release date
The Overwatch 2 Season 14 mid-season patch is set to drop on Tuesday, January 21 at 11:00 am PT (7:00 pm GMT).
This date was confirmed when Aaron Keller, the game director, announced that the first 6v6 test will be available in the Arcade section until the mid-season. The complete season is set to end four weeks later, on Tuesday, February 18 at the same time.
What can we expect from the patch notes?
The patch notes for the Overwatch 2 Season 14 mid-season are not available at the moment, but should arrive a day before the update drops or the same day.
However, this patch will probably make some hero changes, whether to balance some overpowered aspects of the title in recent weeks or to introduce a new meta between the different heroes.
As indicated before, this patch will bring a new 6v6 test where the format will be "min 1 max 3." In other words, each role will need at least one player, meaning the maximum number of players in the same role can be three. This test will run from the day the patch launches until February 4.
Apart from that, we will have to wait and see what other things Blizzard has in store to close out the second half of the season and to keep us busy until Season 15.
We will update this article once the complete patch notes are out, so make sure to come back when the date comes.
