Ninjas in Pyjamas has signed Gustavo “Wizard” Gomes as Julio “JULIO” Giacomelli’s replacement. Wizard was part of Escolinha do bubu, which is currently leading the standings in Brazil’s Liga Six.

Wizard’s career started in Team oNe’s academy in March 2021, as he helped the team to qualify for every Copa do Brasil edition held throughout the year. Later on, the team finished among the best four rosters in Série B.

Following his departure from Team oNe’s Academy, Wizard started competing under Escolinha do bubu in the country’s second tier.

Escolinha do bubu, which name comes from XSET’s coach Mattheus “Budega” Figueiredo, has left astonishing performances lately, defeating various top-flight teams in the GWB Open Qualifier including 00 Nation, FURIA Esports, and Team oNe. In the Closed Qualifier, Escolinha lost twice to FaZe Clan and defeated the South American side Furious Gaming.

Julio’s departure from Ninjas in Pyjamas comes after a tenth-place finish in the first stage of the Brasileirão, as the roster was victorious in just one match.

In an attempt to go back to winning ways, the roster has decided to sign talent from the region’s tier two, a gamble previously seen in Team Liquid, Team oNe, or FURIA Esports.

Ninjas in Pyjamas has also announced the signing of Marcus “Sneepy” Matos as the new coach, who will replace Dyjair “Mity” Soares.
