An incoming nerf has divided MW3 fans

Modern Warfare 3 players split ahead of imminent weapon nerf

Modern Warfare 3 fans are split following Sledgehammer Games revealing plans to nerf one of the game's most popular weapons.

The  Season 4 update contained a wealth of new content for multiplayer and zombies including the Superi 46 submachine gun but it was the return of an iconic rifle that grabbed the attention of many loading into the action.

Since its return, the Kar98k has dominated the meta thanks to its high levels of mobility and its ability to shred through the opposition at any distance. With its domination showing no signs of slowing down, the developer has intervened to tame its power.

One Reddit user claims the Kar98k "is the best shotgun in the game" despite it slotting into the marksman rifle category thanks to its close-quarters firepower.

In response, Sledgehammer Games revealed it will receive balancing changes as part of the Season 4 Reloaded update: "Kar98k balance adjustments are incoming, and we are currently targeting the Season 4 Reloaded update."

While some are looking forward to its nerf, others believe the rifle only needs a small adjustment to bring it back in line: "IMO it just needs the ADS nerfed a little bit. I can live with the damage," one fan states.

On the other hand, many don't want the gun to receive a nerf. "They always hear the 'nerf it' feedback. They never hear the 'This is the most fun I've had in the game in years," comments another player.

Exact details on the Kar98k nerf and whether it will affect its performance in Warzone weren't revealed so we'll have to wait and see the full impact on June 26th when the mid-season update for multiplayer and the battle royale goes live.
