Marvel Rivals: Possible release date, platforms, heroes, maps, and more

A new team-based shooter is coming

Marvel Rivals

After a few leaks, Marvel Games and NetEase finally revealed their new game called Marvel Rivals. The project is a free-to-play team-based PvP shooter in the same vein as other popular titles like Overwatch or Valorant.

If you are interested in it and want to know more, we have gathered all the information that was revealed along with a couple of leaks.

Release date

A release date for Marvel Rivals hasn't been announced but we do when players will get a chance to test it out. The game will have a closed alpha, where users who sign up will get to play it for a limited time.

The closed alpha is slated to take place in May, although a specific start date is unknown at the moment. You can sign up for this playtest by visiting the game's official website.

The game is coming out for PC and will be available through Steam and the Epic Games Store. No word yet on if we'll get a console version at launch, or if the developers have plans for it in the future.

Trailer

Here is the reveal trailer, which gives us a first look at the gameplay, the abilities of the different heroes, and the team-up mechanic:

Heroes

The game will feature a varied roster of heroes from the different group of Marvel characters, like the X-Men, the Avengers, and even The Guardians of the Galaxy. Here are all the heroes confirmed so far:

  • Doctor Strange
  • Scarlet Witch
  • Iron Man
  • Luna Snow
  • Punisher
  • Rocket
  • Groot
  • Loki
  • Spider-Man
  • Hulk
  • Magik
  • Magneto
  • Mantis
  • Storm
  • Peni Parker
  • Black Panther
  • Star Lord
  • Namor
  • Thor

Thanks to an in-game leaked image, which you can see in the post below, we know that these heroes will be separated into groups depending on their abilities.

Judging by the symbols appearing next to each character's name, it is clear that there will be three groups: Supports, Damage or DPS, and Tanks. This information hasn't been officially announced but it seems clear that the game will follow the traditional grouping of a team-based game.

Maps

These are the only maps that have been confirmed for the game as of now:

  • Asgard
  • Tokyo 2099

We all know Asgard is the home of Thor and Loki, and we can see some areas of it in the reveal trailer. On the other hand, Tokyo 2099 is the home of Peni Parker, one of the heroes available in the roster of playable characters.

We will update this article whenever we get any sort of new information as we wait for the closed alpha and its eventual release.
