Into The Breach has announced the decision to "winding down our operations" after "significant mismanagement within the organization," as per the team's official statement on X (formerly known as Twitter).
According to the team's statement, the organization discovered that "an individual entrusted with all financial and monetary decisions was embezzling funds for personal use."
The "individual" in question is Sam "SlayTheMinotaur" Cook, who admitted to be acting "as two people." While he was trying to match the efforts of his staffs and players to bring Into The Breach to the top, he also was a "destructive, alcoholic narcissist hellbent on self-immolation."
In a reply to his post, Sam admitted having "took around £600k in director's loans, but at incorrect times and without due process." Additionally, he admitted ITB made around "£4m in 2023" and "somewhere around £1.5m up to 2024."
Into The Breach's most successful year was 2023 after the team's Counter-Strike roster qualified for the BLAST Paris Major 2023. The squad finished among the best eight sides in the tournament and collected USD$45,000.
However, the team's main source of money was the sticker money from said competition. According to Sam's post, "what I did was pay the players from all sources, which amounted to around $241,071.61 per player."
Despite Sam's claims, Into The Breach's former player Karol "rallen" Rodowicz, who competed in Paris, replied to Sam's post and said "you owe me salaries from almost half of the year and sticker money."
As a consequence, Into The Breach has had to let go the organization's teams and will "support our players, staff, and partners during this difficult transition."
Logically, this means that Into The Breach has parted ways with the organization's Rainbow Six Siege squad. The brand had re-signed Luke "Kendrew" Kendrew, Oscar "Oscr" Deacon, and Charlie "Creedz" Foote, while adding Ben "CTZN" McMillan and Jake "Sloth" Brown, to qualify for the Six Invitational 2025. After failing to do so, the British roster qualified for the Malta Cyber Series: VIII.
Meanwhile, Ryan "KangruKenny" Morrow, who's currently working as DarkZero Esports' coach after being loaned from Into The Breach, admitted the players and staff "were still being paid salary" which "kept us in" while they were "waiting on prize money."
Since re-joining the Rainbow Six Siege competitive scene in September 2023, Into The Breach made around USD$122,000 in prize pool money alone as the British organization qualified for the BLAST R6 Major Manchester and the Esports World Cup 2024.
