Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4, Absolute Doom, is here and a new update will add more content to the game. As such, players could be encountering server issues as they try to play following the patch. Epic Games is very communicative regarding downtime and server issues, especially when a new season arrives. The new update that will bring more content to Chapter 5 Season 4 is arriving soon, and sadly, that means downtime.
Are Fortnite servers down?
Yes, at the time of writing, the Fortnite servers are down for maintenance ahead of a new Chapter 5 Season 4 update. Epic Games has stated that players can already download the update but they won't be able to play the game until downtime is over.
Downtime started at 4 AM ET/9 AM GMT.
The update is roughly 6GB so be sure to have some storage and download it with time so you can enjoy the new Absolute Doom patch as soon as it launches.
How to check Fortnite server status?
The best way to keep track of what's happening with Fortnite is via the official Fortnite Status Twitter account. The dev team regularly updates fans via social media and it's the fastest, most reliable way of keeping tabs on downtime and other upcoming maintenance periods.
When are the Fortnite servers coming back up?
According to information from dataminers, the downtime is expected to last roughly five hours, however, the period can be extended due to unforeseen circumstances.
There have been some extreme but rather rare cases where Epic Games has been forced to extend the downtime period for almost 24 hours due to server issues. The longest premeditated downtime period lasted 36 hours when the infamous The Blackout live event occurred back in 2019.
Once Epic has provided an updated timeline on when players can expect the downtime to end we'll update this article accordingly.
