Fans everywhere were overjoyed when leaks of Fortnite removing Battle Pass exclusivity made the rounds. Removing exclusive skins from these Battle Passes means players can just buy the cosmetics they want without dedicating time to these progression blockers. Epic Games has clarified complications with this method.

Having cosmetics tied to Battle Passes can be annoying since players might not like everything included in one pass. Since players will have to work their way to get one skin, they might unlock other cosmetics they don’t care about. While this method could go away, Epic revealed something controversial about this new mandate.

What you need to know about Fortnite’s Battle Pass exclusivity

Epic Games has stated that any Fortnite Battle Pass released before August 7, 2024, will not be affected by this new mandate. This means that any exclusive item from all of these Battle Passes will remain that way. Gamers are naturally annoyed by this news since there are some great items from the previous Passes aren’t available now.

It is good that future Battle Passes won’t have exclusive items after years of fans having them. However, not making older items available is a wasted opportunity since some of the game’s best items were in previous passes. Whatever the case, this decision is a blessing and a curse for fans of this shooter

When will Fortnite Battle Pass items stop being exclusive?

According to Epic Games, future Fortnite Battle Pass items will stop being exclusive after 18 months. Item players may want to get will come to the in-game store after over a year. It’s not an ideal way to get any desired cosmetics, but players will be saving money this way.

Sadly, this means items from previous Battle Passes will never be available in the store. There might be special celebrations when Epic decides to bring it back, like with the upcoming Fortnite OG mode, but those are very rare.
