EUL Week 3 Preview: Potential Berlin decider for G2 and BDS, Heroic and Wolves look to maintain unbeaten record

It’s time for Europe’s third week of competition.

G2 Esports’ Berlin Major hopes could fade away tonight

Heading into the third week of the stage, G2 Esports are already in a critical situation. Two regulation losses on Bank have placed the team at the bottom of the EUL standings.

G2’s poor performance against Rogue last week was their second-worst ever. That, combined with the team’s last result against Team BDS (1-7) could point to tonight’s game being another difficult one for the Berlin residents.

On the other hand, Team BDS aren’t in a position to rave about their performances either. An overtime victory over Outsiders was followed by a regulation loss against EUL leaders Heroic, leaving the Frenchmen in seventh with just two points.

Plain and simple, the loser of the match might well be saying goodbye to a possible Berlin Major qualification.

Heroic and Wolves look to maintain unbeaten starts

At the completely opposite end of the table, Heroic and Wolves have started on the right foot. Currently sitting at the top of the standings after a perfect start, both rosters aim to extend their run with victories today.

Wolves Esports might have the easier challenge, however, as they face PWNZ. The Russian side has already played against Heroic, losing the match by 2-7. However, Pavel “Amision” Chebatkov has been pivotal for the Russians and is currently the highest rated player in the EUL thanks to a 2.07 rating performance against Natus Vincere last week.

Meanwhile, Heroic is facing their regional opponents MNM Gaming, who haven’t had the best of starts to the stage. Heroic are the clear favorites here, with the team having lost just one game in Europe since the start of the 2022 season entirely.

Rogue and Outsiders to defend top four spots against UKIN sides

Outsiders and NAVI will kick us off tonight in a very important match for two oppositions who look forward qualifying for Berlin. Currently, the Russian team sits in fourth with four points, while Na’Vi sits in sixth.

Meanwhile, Rogue and William “Spoit” Löfstedt are back in action as the team will face Team Secret, arguably one of the weakest sides in the competition. Considering both teams’ current momentums, any result but a regulation victory for Rogue would be shocking.
