Destiny 2 has a strange new key item: Curio of the Nine. Introduced with Episode: Heresy, players are wondering how to get it, and more importantly, what it does.
After months of mystery, we now know exactly why you need Curio of the Nine. As you might have expected, it's tied to the new event: Rite of the Nine, which just kicked off on May 6.
How to get Curio of the Nine in Destiny 2
Getting Curio of the Nine is somewhat straightforward. You'll first get your initial Curio of the Nine item after completing the introductory quest to Episode: Heresy.
Then, certain seasonal challenges will grant Curio of the Nine as a reward so keep an eye on which ones do so you can start collecting them.
The description for the Curio of the Nine reads:
- An enigmatic token of favor containing markings of the Nine. The Nine do not wish to reveal the purpose for seeking your favor today
An uncommon warning is also at the bottom of the description. It states that while the item may not seem to serve any real or important purpose at this moment, Guardians need to protect the Curio of the Nine with their lives.
The item can be discarded. Oddly enough, the warning states that there's no way of getting it back if you do.
How to use Curio of the Nine in Destiny 2
You can use the Curio of the Nine and transform it to earn rewards from the Nine at Eternity. To do so, simply talk to the Emissary in The Rite of the Nine destination inside Eternity and it'll transform your Curio of the Nine into Nonary Manifold.
The description for this item reads:
- A mysterious currency that can be redeemed in Eternity for rewards offered by the Nine
