Following victories against top-flight teams Cloud9 Beastcoast, Wildcard, and Oxygen Esports, the Tier 2 organization-less roster CL4L has qualified for the BLAST R6 Major Montreal.
For the first time since the Six Raleigh Major, played in August 2019, a non-professional squad will participate in a Rainbow Six Siege Major. Back then, Team Secret and forZe represented Europe as they reached the tournament's semifinals.
After defeating the BLAST R6 Major Manchester champions Cloud9 Beastcoast, CL4L was matched with Wildcard in the Last Chance Qualifier's semifinals. Interestingly enough, three of CL4L's five players have represented Wildcard in some degree, as Jaidan "Packer" Franz and Adam "Atom" Gutiérrez played for the first team, while Landon "Beeno" Ashbee played for the academy roster.
Following the team's 2-1 victory over Wildcard, CL4L earned the right to face off against Oxygen Esports in the Last Chance Qualifier grand final. With wins on Nighthaven Labs and Consulate, the organization-less clinched a spot to compete in Montreal.
CL4L's qualification for the BLAST R6 Major Montreal also means we will see Matheus "Budega" Figueiredo back on the international stage after parting ways with M80 in late September.
However, rumors have already arisen about CL4L having to look for a substitute to compete at the BLAST R6 Major Montreal as Tristan "Tristan" Yarbrough may not have a passport. Therefore, he could be in a position where he's not allowed to leave the United States.
