Fnatic and CAG hoping for SANDBOX upset

Fnatic brought their fans’ hopes up last week with a victory against Berlin Major contenders CYCLOPS athlete gaming. Now, they face a sterner foe in SANDBOX in a game that could boost the Major hopes of other teams if the Koreans lose.

Japan’s last victory against a Korean side in APAC North came during the very first game of the stage, as CAG defeated Korea’s weakest side Spear Gaming. This week, Fnatic will be hoping that they beat SANDBOX -- and so will CAG.

CAG so far this stage have just collected five points out of a possible nine. After having lost in overtime against Fnatic and SANDBOX Gaming, their hopes for a Berlin qualification could fade away soon unless their compatriots are able to pull off another upset.

Talon and REJECT still in the race

APAC North’s most important game this week might be the Talon vs. REJECT clash, as two of the top four teams face each other. If DWG KIA and SANDBOX win their matches and this one goes to overtime, the Korean teams could take a huge step forward towards Berlin Major qualification.

While still being relegation contenders, REJECT have just lost one of their first three matches of the stage. The Japanese squad has already faced SANDBOX and has defeated Fnatic and FAV Gaming.

Meanwhile, Talon Esports currently sport a two win streak, which was only cut short by DWG KIA’s dominance.

Australian clash to decide Chiefs’ fate

It is do-or-die time for the Chiefs, who will face the Knights in this week’s Australian derby. A woeful start to the stage with two regulation losses and one overtime defeat has put the Australians up against the wall in terms of Berlin Major qualification.

Meanwhile, the Knights’ are coming from a very comfortable victory over this stage’s sensations Wildcard Gaming and will take large strides towards Berlin should they dispatch Chiefs as expected.

Gaimin Gladiators vs Elevate

At the top of the standings, the two best teams in APAC South right now will meet in the third game of the day.

Gaimin Gladiators have enjoyed a very solid start to the stage, looking dominant since signing for their new organization. Razaan “Ape” Adiprakasa and former Invictus Gaming player Jose “Jo” Iman have led the squad in the first three games of the stage and the team’s Major hopes are only growing.

Facing them will be Elevate. The Six Invitational 2022 participants will fervently be hoping to qualify for another international event after not being allowed to fly to Charlotte due to visa complications. Currently in second after having faced the Knights, Dire Wolves, and Invictus Gaming, Elevate’s Berlin hopes can get a huge boost with a win this week.
