Group C Key Takeaways: Elevate crush competition, BDS go out early

Group C finally finished up, here's the breakdown.

Group C saw some controversy, to say the least.

BDS were hobbled by the absence of Adrien “RaFaLe” Rutik, and completely and totally fell apart, even after he returned. They were the first team to be knocked out of SI 2022, which came as a complete and total shock.

There is no true winner of this group other than Elevate. The Thai roster was expected by many to finish in the bottom of their group, if not go out in groups. Elevate did anything but that, finishing in the upper half of their group after stellar performances against DarkZero and TSM FTX.

BDS was the disappointment of the group, but everyone else had their moments of excellence. This was one of the most hotly-contested groups of the event. Elevate shone, Diogo “Fntzy” Lima starred for a young FURIA roster, DarkZero got it together in the back half of the tournament, and TSM FTX started hot but fizzled towards the end.

Surprise of the group

BDS, and not in a good way. RaFaLe not being available regardless, most expected BDS to win this group with relative ease. They did not, in fact, win the group, and are, in fact, out of SI.

Group A Impact Player: njr

Nick “njr” Rapier is the fourth highest-rated player in the event by SiegeGG Rating. He has done a herculean job getting DarkZero over the line in quite a few of these maps, and is closing in 100 kills for the event. He would join elite company with this distinction: only André “nesk” Oliveira, Karl “Alem4o” Zarth, Pablo “Gryxr” Rebeil, and Luccas “Paluh” Molina have over 100 kills in the event. DarkZero had some struggles, but let’s be clear: njr did not, at least statistically.

Match of the Group

Elevate 2-0 TSM FTX, day five

TSM FTX have an international pedigree, a history of success, and have some of the largest names in the Rainbow Six Siege ecosystem. It’s Elevate’s first LAN competition. They were the question mark coming in, the team that was always excellent in regional play but could never qualify for a LAN.

Elevate’s performance put them in contention to be first in their group. A later FURIA 2-1 victory to DarkZero would secure the result.

Elevate were counted out. This match shows why they shouldn’t be any more.
