The intro cinematic for Ashes of the Damned, Black Ops 7's first Zombies map, has been revealed

The two crews collide

Black Ops 7 Ashes of the Damned cinematic

Just like promised a week before and after a few short teasers posted on social media, the first bit of information about the debut Zombies map in Black Ops 7 has been released. Titled Ashes of the Damned, the map´s story will pick up right after the events of Reckoning from Black Ops 6.

The developers posted the map's intro cinematic, which tells us what happens in the moments after the Black Ops 6 crew is teleported into the Dark Aether.

As seen in the ending cinematic of the Reckoning map, Weaver and the others were brought to an unknown location, and there they meet a new version of the Primis/Ultimis crew from the original Aether storyline.

The new cinematic shows us that their first meeting is interrupted by a new cowboy-looking character, whose name we don't know yet. The character approaches the two crews and, with the help of a caged skull, he takes their life force out of them to feed himself. This explains why all members of each crew will have a zombified aspect, at least in the game's first map.

The mysterious character opens another portal and then goes away, but not before leaving some undead to attack both crews. In case you haven't seen it or if you want to give it another look, here is the cinematic:

The Call of Duty blog what that this is a never-before-seen incarnation of the original Zombies crew, but it doesn't give any hints or clues as to where they came from or what their objective is.

Ashes of the Damned is rumored to be a new version of the Tranzit map from Black Ops 2 Zombies. Teasers posted a day before this announcement indicate that the map could have some recreations of maps from previous installments of the franchise, like Kino der Toten or Ascension.

We will have to wait for more information or until the COD Next 2025 event to know more about this map. In the meantime, you can check out this article to read all the major details we have so far about the upcoming game.

Black Ops 7 is scheduled to come out on November 14 for current-gen consoles (Xbox Series X|S and PS5), last-gen consoles (PS4 and Xbox One), and PC through Steam or Battle.net.
