Season 2 kicks off soon in Black Ops 6 and Warzone, adding the first batch of new content to both games this year.
Although Activision made it clear that the new content in Warzone won't be as significant as expected since the developers are focused on giving the care it needs to several areas, Treyarch's title is set to receive a good amount of additions. Here is everything announced for Season 2 so you can prepare accordingly.
Release date
Black Ops 6 Season 2 is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, January 28. The new content should go live at 9:00 am PT (5:00 pm GMT). The new season will last around eight weeks, with a significant midseason update dropping in the middle to add all the Season 2 reloaded content.
Roadmap
Here is the roadmap infographic for Season 2 where you can have a brief look at all the major additions:
New maps
Five new maps are coming to the multiplayer side of Black Ops 6 and here is the list along with some details about each one:
- Bounty (6v6, medium-sized): Available at the start of the season.
- Dealership (6v6, medium-sized): Available at the start of the season.
- Lifeline (6v6, 2v2, small-sized): Available at the start of the season.
- Bullet (6v6, 2v2, small-sized): Available at the mid-season.
- Grind (6v6, medium-sized): Available at the mid-season.
All of these are brand-new maps except for Grind, which is a remake of the multiplayer map originally introduced through a DLC in Black Ops 2 and later remastered in Black Ops 4.
New weapons
The season brings four new weapons to both Black Ops 6 and Warzone, and here is the list:
- PPSh-41 (SMG): Available at launch through the battle pass.
- Cypher 091 (Assault Rifle): Available at launch through the battle pass.
- Feng 82 (LMG): Available at launch through the battle pass.
- TR2 (Marksman Rifle): Available as a reward for an upcoming event.
The Call of Duty teases that the Season 2 reloaded will also add a few new melee weapons to the game and a "rip-roaring projectile armament", but we are still not sure what this could be.
New modes
The multiplayer side will receive four new modes, with two only available during the upcoming Valentine's Day event. Here are the modes in question along with a short description:
- Overdrive (Available at launch): Teams compete to be the first to reach the maximum number of stars in this Team Deathmatch variant. Here is how to get stars:
- Earn 1 star for Basic Eliminations like finishing off an enemy with body shots.
- Earn 2 stars for Core Medal Eliminations like headshots and melee attacks.
- Earn 3 stars for completing Distinguished Medal Eliminations, reserved for only the most impressive takedowns.
- Gun Game (Available at launch): Compete in a free-for-all mode where all Operators begin the match with the same starting weapon and cycle through the same set of 20 weapons, varying from match to match.
Valentine's Day event modes
- Third Wheel Gunfight: A 3v3 gunfight variant with Valentine's Day decorations.
- Couples Dance-Off: Compete in a moshpit of 2v2 Face Off modes including Face Off Team Deathmatch, Face Off Domination, and Face Off Kill Confirmed.
