Although Ubisoft has already confirmed XDefiant's future has been canceled, the game isn't completely dead just yet.

Instead of shutting the game down immediately, Ubisoft will allow gamers to play XDefiant until June 3. That's when the title will officially close the curtain.

Despite the news of XDefiant shutting down next year, the game's players were looking forward to the updates released to the game in Season 3. On December 18, Ubisoft unveiled everything that's coming to the game in the upcoming days.

Here's everything you need to know about XDefiant's Season 3:

New factions

On paper, Ubisoft was going to introduce one brand-new faction to XDefiant. However, with the game shutting down next year, Ubisoft decided to let players try out all of the features designed until the date.

Keep on reading to know more about the Assassins:

The Assassins

XDefiant's Season 3 has introduced a new faction to the game called Assassins. These are themed around Ubisoft's popular title Assassin's Creed.

These are the Assassins' abilities that players will be able to use in XDefiant:

Hidden Blade

The Hidden Blade is the Assassin's passive ability and it allows them to kill enemies with one melee hit.

Cherry bomb

The Cherry bomb is an ability that allows Assassin players to drop a bomb on their location. This bomb will concuss the target or targets around them.

Eagle vision

The Eagle vision is an ability that allows Assassin players to cover their enemies in a red outline. When the Eagle vision is active, they can also see a trail left by their enemies.

Apple of Eden

Last but surely not least, the Assassin's ultra ability is the Apple of Eden. This device allows Assassins to teleport next to located enemies for a limited time, killing them with their hidden blades.

As we mentioned before, two more factions were added to the game, including the Wolves and Blood Dragon.

New game mode Defuse

Defuse is XDefiant's new game mode. This game mode is similar to the Bomb game mode, but it's slightly different.

Each round has pre-made loadouts that players will have to use, which will include weapons and abilities. This means that you will have to play with some weapons that you may not know much about.

Every match could last up to nine rounds. Teams will swap sides after the conclusion of the first four rounds. Players will be able to pick up some boosts that will randomly spawn on the map.

This new game mode has also seen the arrival of a new map called Animus Anomaly, which was released exclusively for this game mode.

Additionally, Ubisoft has also added future game modes that were going to be released in the future, including Bots, Lum Hunt, Tilt, and Turbo XD.

New maps

XDefiant's Season 3 is not only welcoming Animus Anomaly to the game but also Mykonos, El Barrio, and Jorvik.

Mykonos is a new XDefiant map located in Greece. The map includes market stalls, plenty of jumping animations, and many more insane actions that could make this one a fan-favorite.

Meanwhile, Jorvik is just the opposite of Mykonos. While the Greek map has sun and coast, Jorvik is a northern village covered by snow. This is a Linear map, so long-range weapons are strong.

New weapons

Here's a look at all of the weapons added to the game in Season 3, according to XDefiant's post on X (formerly Twitter):

Assault Rifle

  • FAMAS - The FAMAS is a burst-fire rifle like the M16A4 but with faster ADS time, movement, and rate of fire. It is slower to reload, however, and inflicts less hurt per shot.
  • G36K

Sub-Machine Gun

  • M1928

Light Machine Gun

  • MG5 - Despite its shorter range and lower ammo capacity than other belt-fed LMGs, the MG5 with its higher rate of fire makes it a powerful and versatile option for those who can master its challenging recoil.

Marksman

  • M1A - An agile warhorse built for medium-range battles, the M1A offers a speedy rate of fire but deals less per-shot damage compared to other marksman rifles.

Sniper Rifle

  • SRS

Pistol

  • Diceros

Additionally, Ubisoft has added the Tapered Barrel, a weapon attachment that "increases handling speed but reduces damage." So, while this attachment will help you move quickly, you will likely need more bullets to kill your opponents. Is it worth it?

Progression

XDefiant has added a prestige system, badges, a faction mastery, daily rewards and credits, and a prestine weapon mastery skin. Here's everything you need to know about them:

Prestige system

Prestige is defined as a "new progression system that rewards long-haul dedication with flashy cosmetics and extravagant emblems that showcase your experience to other players."

When a player completes a prestige, they will have the option to reset their player progress in exchange for an "eye-catching Prestige Emblem." Players will be able to eventually get back access to all of the weapons as they complete missions and earn XP. After finishing the second Prestige, they will have the option to reset their progress again for another emblem.

Badges

Badges are mysterious as players don't exactly know how to get them. That pushes the community to interact with other players and to play in different ways.

Faction Mastery

Players have the option to level up their characters, earn prestigious rewards, and "track their progression within the game."

Daily rewards and credits

Players will earn rewards for simply logging into the game. They will earn bigger rewards after the fifth and tenth consecutive days of logging in.

Meanwhile, credits allow players to purchase previously released cosmetics. However, all players have now access to all items in the game.

Ranked

XDefiant's Season 3 has introduced changes to Ranked, including a Top 500 leaderboard and brand-new features like K-D, Win-Loss, Average Score per minute, and MVPs. Players will also be able to display their ranked tier for all to see.
