Virtus.pro have qualified for the BLAST R6 Major Montreal after defeating Wolves Esports in Europe's third-place decider match.
After concluding Year 8 with a Top 3 finish at the Six Invitational 2024, the Russians kicked off Year 9 with a negative result as they finished in eighth place in the first split of the Europe League 2024. The team would also miss out on the Esports World Cup after a tight defeat against the eventual champions Team BDS.
Unfortunately for the Russian side, the team's results didn't improve in the second split of the Europe League 2024 and narrowly qualified for the playoffs after the team's 4-7 defeat against WYLDE was followed by a 5-7 Fnatic loss against Team BDS.
However, it's fair to say the team transformed once the playoffs started. Virtus.pro's 2-0 victory against G2 Esports was followed by a 0-2 defeat against Team Secret. Finally, today, the Russians have clinched the region's third spot to compete in Montreal after a 2-1 victory over Wolves Esports.
With tonight's result, the Bears are still well alive in the race to qualify for the Six Invitational 2025. The team currently sits on 25th place of the Global Standings with 210 SI Points and a great performance in Montreal's Swiss Stage would see them easily sneaking into the Top 16.
