Valorant Killjoy Agent Guide: Abilities, tips and tricks

Here's a look at how to use Killjoy in Valorant.

Killjoy is a Valorant agent and the third Sentinel to be released to the game. Killjoy was launched to Valorant on Aug. 4, 2020.

Abilities

Nowadays, Killjoy is one of the strongest Sentinels in Valorant. While we are used to seeing people maining agents like Jett or Reyna because of their killing abilities, Killjoy stands out for her defending skills.

Here's a better look at Killjoy's abilities in Valorant:

Basic - Nanoswarm

Killjoy's most basic ability is the Nanoswarm. The Nanoswarm is a small grenade that is deployed on the floor. Once activated, the gadget releases a swarm of nanobots that damage the enemy.

As the Nanoswarms can delay pushes, this is one of Killjoy's best devices!

Basic - Alarmbot

The Alarmbot is the second of Killjoy's basic abilities. This gadget hunts down the enemies in its range of action. Once the Alarmbot explodes, the enemies take the Vulnerable debuff, which doubles the HP taken away by any damage.

Killjoy can call her Alarmbot back, but once she does that she will have to wait 20 seconds to place it again.

Signature - Turret

Killjoy's signature ability is her Turret. This gadget fires at her enemies. Just like Alarmbot, Killjoy can call her Turret back.

Ultimate - Lockdown

Killjoy's ultimate ability is Lockdown, a device that applies the Detain buff to her enemies in the affected area. While under the effects of Lockdown, the opponents can't use their weapons or their abilities. Lockdown lasts for 13 seconds.

How to use Killjoy in Valorant?

Killjoy is one of the best agents in Valorant as her abilities can gather countless of valuable information while also slowing down the enemies. Plain and simple, she's a pain in the enemies' neck.

Here are some tips to get the best out of Killjoy in Valorant!

Place Turrets in open areas

Killjoy's Turrets not only deal damage but also give Killjoy information. By following the position of the enemies, Killjoy can use her Turret to have an idea of where the enemies are located.

At the same time, the Turret can shoot at anybody who is in front of it. That will distract your opponents as they will have to deal with your team and your Turret's shots.

Use Nanoswarms to watch flanks

Killjoy is also useful when attacking. Her Nanoswarms can be used to watch flanks when attacking a site. So, when you are focused on a site take, you can place Killjoy's Nanoswarms in hidden corners to stop any potential flank by the enemies.

Use Nanoswarms passively

While Nanoswarms can cause damage, sometimes it's smart to use them passively. Don't think about the damage but your next move after placing the Nanoswarms. Once they are triggered, they can give you some time to get cover. At the same time, you're slowing the enemies down, which may give your allies the time to get back to the site!

Be smart, you're not a Duelist

Killjoy isn't a Duelist and her devices are too important to get lost in the boid because of a silly early death. You must play Killjoy smartly. While this may be easy to understand for those with more experience in Valorant, an early Killjoy death can make the difference between winning and losing the round.
