In a blog post released on August 2, Ubisoft unveiled more information regarding the cheating situation in Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. Although Ubisoft admit that Y9S2 has “seen an increase in cheater activity” the team is showing positivity regarding the game’s future.
“The journey of Anti-Cheat is a constant back and forth between ourselves and cheat makers, and we are in this alongside our players. We are coming back stronger, and our efforts and passion will not be thwarted.”
Here’s everything that you need to know from Ubisoft’s most recent blog post:
Anti-Cheat
Ubisoft admitted having “decided” in Y9S1 that it was “necessary to have increased, long-term investment for Siege anti-cheat.”
Ubisoft’s Anti-Cheat strategy is divided into two, called Proactive Protection and Reactive Protection. While Proactive Protection has an impact on cheat creators, the Reactive Protection stage is led by BattlEye and the QB System. According to Ubisoft’s blog post, “the Anti-Cheat team is working to create new innovative approaches to Anti-Cheat in both the proactive and reactive areas by pursuing research and development.”
Unfortunately, Ubisoft admitted that “some cheats came back online more quickly than expected” following the release of Operation New Blood. Therefore, the number of reports of cheaters in the game increased.

Ubisoft’s blog post also has a look at the QB System and its future, praising the system’s work since its introduction in late 2022, which forced “several cheat creators halting production for Siege.” However, with time, cheats got updated to avoid Siege’s QB System.
Keeping this in mind, Ubisoft admitted that the “QB System requires constant updating” and that the Anti-Cheat team is currently “working on an expansion of the QB System which we believe could be a game changer for the disruption of cheat makers.” The team is “hoping” to “be able to test a prototype in Y9S4.”
MouseTrap
Although MouseTrap was a huge success when it was first released in Y8S1, some cheaters seem to have found a way around it. Ubisoft’s blog post provides an update for console players who may be worried about it, with the team focused on its “detection capabilities” and will ensure that “more device types can be detected with increased accuracy.”
Match Cancellation 3.0
Ubisoft is working on Match Cancellation 3.0, which will be coming to the game in Y9S4. The Cheater Match Cancellation will automatically cancel the match once a cheater is confirmed and consequently banned in the game.
Anti-Toxicity
Rainbow Six Siege’s Reputation System will be tweaked in Year 9 Season 4. Ubisoft are now designing a new Reputation Center that will be easier to understand.
Starting with Year 9 Season 4, MouseTrap will be linked to the Reputation System. Moreover, Ubisoft are planning on releasing an automated text chat moderator, which will check each message written on the chat which will be automatically censored or flagged depending on its content.
More changes will be implemented in the future, including Voice Chat moderation, commendations, and more.
