Rainbow Six Siege's throwback to nostalgic plays, spots, and curiosities

Do you remember these plays and spots?

As times changes, what once looked normal happens to feel strange, weird, and at some point, it is not there anymore.

Many new maps, operators, and reworks have been introduced to Rainbow Six Siege, so it's obvious that the game looks different if compared to past versions. It's honestly not bold to assume that many old Siege players have moved on and explored other titles, while new gamers get used to the new Siege without experiencing how was the game years ago.

This is for those that stayed and went through all these spots, plays, and situations. Be aware, nostalgia is probably going to kick in.

Oregon's laundry hatch and the smashed wall

Unless you never got the chance to play the old version of Oregon, you will surely remember this spot.

Oregon's rework was introduced in early 2020, so it's already been two years since then. Before the rework, the lobby had a hatch that was directly connected to the laundry site. With the rework, it was moved so it connected to a new room, now known as laundry storage.

Back in 2020, keeping that hatch closed was important. Kaid was the best operator to achieve that goal, using his Electroclaw to electrocute it. If the hatch was electrified, not even the best hard breacher could open it. That makes sense, doesn't it?

Well, not really. There was another way to open the hatch, and that was by placing a Thermite charge on the wall next to it. The explosion of the gadget would also destroy the reinforcement in question. That's why defenders had to rush during the preparation phase, quickly destroy the wall, and hope for attackers to not find another way to open it.

Clubhouse's garage ladder

You must be old if you remember this one. Sorry.

Before the rework, any secure area round played here could be, well, infinite. It was very difficult for attackers and defenders to have a final battle in that game mode. To not talk about how difficult was to get on the ladder, as it would expose you to any opponent nearby.

With the rework, the ladder disappeared and some actual stairs were added to that same spot. Garage is in a way better shape now, believe us.

Chalet's trophy drone hole

We believe we are going to awake some memories here. This was the drone hole. Attackers could use it to shoot at the defender's feet, as it was really common to have a Mira or a Jäger holding the trophy site from that position.

Defenders usually placed a deployable shield and multiple Jäger ADSs so attackers couldn't use the drone hole. Moreover, attackers used to waste utility to destroy the shield. Imagine how important that was.

Also, keep in mind this was before Chalet's rework. Cleaning the trophy room was important and, before Amaru was a reality, this window and its drone hole next to it were the only options to do so.

Oh and yeah, in that picture — which is from 2018 — IQ had fragmentation grenades. Hell yeah.

Jäger, Bandit, and SMG-11 ACOG's

Fan-favorite operators Jäger, Bandit, and Smoke could equip an ACOG to some of their guns, something that will be seen as incredibly odd for the new gamers out there.

Smoke's SMG-11 ACOG was lost with the release of Operation Red Crow, which was introduced in the game back in 2016.

Jäger's Carabine was lethal as the German operator could equip an ACOG to it, which was removed with the launch of Operation Blood Orchid. He was not the only operator to lose it, as his fellow teammate Bandit was deprived of it too.

Players could use this fantastic sight again on these operators with the launch of the limited-time event Legacy Arcade Mode, which could be back in the future.

You had to pay for attachments

Last but not least, one of my favorites. You had to spend Renown to unlock attachments, such as sights or barrels.

Back then, players used to look for what were the most meta attachment configurations to save as much renown as possible. You had to spend the Renown wisely if you didn't want to pay real money for R6 Credits.
