Following the conclusion of yesterday's matches, Team BDS, Team Liquid, Bleed Esports, and FURIA Esports became the first four teams to qualify for Siege's Esports World Cup playoffs. Later today, the winners of today's matches will follow them, as the best eight sides will secure US$80,000 and 60 Club Points.
Here's more information about today's matches:
Team Bliss vs. Spacestation Gaming
Spacestation Gaming headed to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as one of the teams to follow after the signing of Benjamin "Benjamaster" Dereli. However, the Americans quickly fell to the Lower Bracket after the team's 3-7 defeat on Kafe against w7m esports. Following the roster's disappointing start, the squad beat Team Cruelty and moved to the Lower Bracket semi-final.
Meanwhile, the Australians started on the right foot with a 7-3 victory against Luminosity Gaming, which was followed by a 4-7 defeat against Team Liquid in the Upper Bracket semi-final.
Spacestation Gaming and Team Bliss have met twice since November 2024, with the Americans winning both matches. In Atlanta, the astronauts won on Clubhouse in maximum overtime. Meanwhile, both teams clashed again at the Six Invitational 2024 as Spacestation Gaming won on Oregon (7-5) and Border (8-6).
Luminosity Gaming vs. w7m esports
Luminosity Gaming and w7m esports are clashing for the first time in Rainbow Six Siege in what will be a do-or-die match for both squads. While the winner will qualify for the Esports World Cup playoffs, the loser will be sent back home.
The Americans made their international debut against Team Bliss as the blue roster fell against the Australians after a 3-7 defeat on Consulate. Fortunately for them, they kept their hopes alive of a quarter-final appearance after defeating PSG Talon on Skyscraper (7-5) and Clubhouse (8-6).
Arguably, w7m esports' bracket has been the most difficult, with the Brazilians kicking things off with a rock-solid victory against Spacestation Gaming, which was followed by a 2-7 defeat on Nighthaven Labs against the back-to-back Gamers8 champions Team BDS.
FaZe Clan vs. Into the Breach
FaZe Clan's surprising maximum overtime defeat against Bleed Esports saw the Brazilians dropping to the Lower Bracket semi-finals, where they will play against Into the Breach.
The British side started the competition with a 4-7 defeat against FURIA Esports, a result that was followed by a 2-0 victory against Geekay Esports. Heading to today's clash, the Six Invitational 2024 grand finalists are the favorites to take the win and qualify for the playoffs.
SCARZ vs. DarkZero Esports
SCARZ and DarkZero Esports will meet in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for the first time since the BLAST R6 Major Manchester Swiss Stage, where the Americans defeated the Japanese side on Nighthaven Labs by 7-2.
Unfortunately for the Asian team, today's match isn't looking right for the squad as they have only defeated an American roster since their international debut in April 2023, at the Copenhagen Major. Since then, the Japanese champions have lost three times against American teams, with their only victory coming against Spacestation Gaming in Denmark.
The players led by Troy "Canadian" Jaroslawski started their Esports World Cup run with a 7-4 win against Geekay Esports, which was followed by a maximum overtime defeat against FURIA Esports. Meanwhile, SCARZ's initial 4-7 defeat against FaZe Clan was followed by an impressive 2-0 victory against Wolves Esports.
