Overwatch 2 Season 12: Release date, Space Ranger, battle pass, and more

Even though the current season started not long ago, it is never too early to start thinking about Season 12 for Overwatch 2. Even though we are still waiting for news about it, several additions have already been confirmed, teased, or even showcased in the game.

While you enjoy the content this current season is offering, like the Transformers collab or the return of Summer Games, here is everything we know about the next one.

Release date

Overwatch 2 Season 12 is set to begin on Tuesday, August 27 at 11:00 am PT (7:00 pm BST), barring any delays or last-minute changes.

PC players will be able to preload the update one or two days before its release through the Battle.net app or Steam. If the usual format remains, the season should be available for around eight weeks before jumping to a new one.

Space Ranger

One of the biggest additions of this new season will be a new support hero codenamed Space Ranger. This will be the 51st playable character in the game and you can look at the following concept art to see how she'll look:

The character's abilities haven't been revealed, however, Alec Dawson, the lead gameplay designer on the game, hinted in a recent interview that the character will "bring some utility that only one character has at the moment."

Thanks to a recent bug, many believe this will be a speed-boosting ability called Speed Ring. We will have to wait until the character's official reveal to know more about this.

Other details

Here are other minor details and rumors about the next season as we wait for more news from official sources:

• Blizzard hasn't announced a release date for the mode Clash and its first map Hanaoka, so we could see them arrive in this new season.
• The season will introduce a new battle pass and a new mythic skin. It is unknown which hero will receive the skin at the moment.
