We are a few days away from the start of Overwatch 2 Season 12 and the launch trailer has finally arrived. This not only highlights all the expected additions for this season but also reveals a few surprises that are coming along the way.

We have gathered all the important details announced about the season so you can read about it and prepare accordingly.

Release date

Overwatch 2 Season 12 is set to begin on Tuesday, August 20 at 11:00 am PT (7:00 pm BST), a week earlier than originally anticipated.

PC players will be able to preload the update one or two days before its release through the Battle.net app or Steam. If the usual format remains, the season should be available for around eight weeks before jumping to a new one.

Trailer

Here is the official launch trailer for Season 12, which gives us a look at the major additions coming to Overwatch 2 this time:

Juno

One of the biggest additions of this new season will be a new support hero named Juno. She is the 51st playable character in the game and was made available for a few days during a playtest in Season 11.

Not much is known about the lore of the character, other than it could be related to a friend of Mei. If you missed the playtest but want to get familiar with her abilities, visit this article to read more about it.

Clash and two maps

As expected, the game mode Clash is finally being permanently added to the rotation. This was briefly tested back in Season 10 and now it will drop along with two maps: Hanaoka and Throne of Anubis.

Just like Hanaoka is based on the Attack map Hanamura from the first title, Throne of Anubis is directly based on the Temple of Anubis.

WoW crossover

At the end of the trailer, we can see Reinhardt's hammer with a skin that makes it look like Frostmourne, the longsword of the Lich King from World of Warcraft.

This indicates that a WoW event is coming at some point in the season. Knowing that The War Within expansion is dropping pretty soon in the popular Blizzard title, we believe this is not that far away.

The WoW event could follow the footsteps of the Diablo 4 crossover seen in Season 7, where some heroes received skins that made them look like characters from the RPG.

Here are other minor details and rumors about the next season as we wait for more news from official sources:
