G2 Esports taking BDS into overtime has locked the mixed-European team into a Six Invitational 2023 appearance.
This comes as G2 can now finish no lower than eighth place in the EUL, which will win them 115 SI Points. These add to 390 Points they each earned in Stages 1 and 2, as they made it to the quarter-finals of both Majors this year, for a total of 895 SI Points.
During Stage 3, G2 had a notably worse performance. After the Berlin Major, they lost both Kevin "Prano" Pranowitz and Thomas "Shas" Lee. They currently sit in eighth place with a 2-1-1-3 record.
Despite this performance, they become the eighth team to reach the 2023 Six Invitational, as they've still had a relatively successful 2022 season. The other qualified teams are Rogue and Wolves Esports from Europe, w7m esports from LATAM, and DarkZero Esports, Oxygen Esports, Astralis, and XSET from NA.
G2 can still qualify for the Jönköping Major, but it would require them to beat Outsiders and hope a number of other results go their way.
