G2 Esports clinched a spot to compete at the Valorant Champions Seoul playoffs after defeating EDward Gaming in the Winners Match. Despite starting the series with a 13-8 defeat on Icebox, the American roster defeated VCT China's champions on Haven and Bind by 13-11 scores.

In what's their Valorant Champions debut, G2 Esports' Valorant team have become the first former Ascension roster to reach the Valorant Champions playoffs. This is unsurprising as G2 Esports finished in third place at the VCT Masters Shanghai, only behind Team Heretics and Gen.G Esports.

Moreover, G2 Esports have become the first Americas team to clinch a playoff spot in Seoul. Earlier today, Leviatán's defeat against Trace Esports saw the Chinese side obtaining Group C's first place. Therefore, G2 Esports' victory against EDward Gaming is Americas' revenge for the first result of the day.

With today's result, G2 Esports have finished as the third-best first seed in the group stage behind DRX (+12 round difference) and Trace Esports (+9). Behind them is Team Heretics, with +3.

Meanwhile, EDward Gaming will have another chance to qualify for the playoffs as they will play against the winner of the match between Paper Rex and FUT Esports.
