EDward Gaming win Valorant Champions 2024

EDward Gaming have won the Valorant Champions 2024 after a thrilling 3-2 victory against Team Heretics.

The VCT China 2024 champions only lost a match in South Korea as they fell to G2 Esports in the Winners Match of Group D. After that, EDward Gaming defeated Paper Rex, Trace Esports, Sentinels, and Leviatán to reach the tournament's grand final.

Meanwhile, despite taking Group B's first seed after victories against FunPlus Phoenix and Gen.G Esports, Los Niños fell to the Lower Bracket after a 0-2 defeat against Leviatán. Eventually, the Europeans redeemed themselves as victories against DRX and Sentinels were followed by a 3-1 victory against the blue roster.

EDward Gaming started the series using the team's two-ban advantage to get rid of Icebox and Ascent. However, Team Heretics kicked off the series with a rock-solid 13-6 victory on Haven after winning nine of the first twelve rounds of the match.

The Chinese side answered Los Niños' first showing with an even more one-sided result, a 13-4 win on Sunset. The result was followed by a 13-9 victory on Lotus. Eventually, Team Heretics' forced the fifth map of the series after a thrilling final round on Bind, where Brimstone's fire prevented the Chinese side from defusing the Spike after killing Team Heretics' remaining two members.

Finally, EDward Gaming won the grand final after a 13-9 victory on Abyss, a map that they dominated from start to finish. Although Team Heretics seemed to be on the verge of completing what would have been a historical comeback, the Chinese faded their hopes away.

Zheng "ZmjjKK" Yongkang was the best player of the series as he became the first player in Valorant's competitive history to record 111 kills in a BO5 series.

EDward Gaming's victory in Seoul, South Korea, means that the Pacific region is the only one yet to win the Valorant Champions as all EMEA, Americas, and China have won one edition. Will Pacific join them next year?
