Black Ops 6 is the next installment in the Call of Duty franchise and the question about anti-cheat is still relevant. Cheating is an ongoing issue amongst the different multiplayer titles, especially when they're as popular as the shooter franchise.
If you haven't been keeping up with the news about the franchise and are wondering if this new game will feature anti-cheat, here is everything you need to know.
Does Black Ops 6 have an anti-cheat?
Just like recent titles, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will have the RICOCHET anti-cheat software integrated at launch.
RICOCHET is an anti-cheat system developed by Activision that was launched in 2021 with the release of Season 1 for Call of Duty: Vanguard and the first Warzone game. Ever since its release, the system has been integrated into every new title from the franchise and this will remain the same for Treyarch's game.
How does RICOCHET work?
RICOCHET is a kernel-level anti-cheat software that runs whenever you're playing any recent Call of Duty game. The software helps a dedicated team of developers identify cheaters and allows them to improve server-side security.
As explained in a blog post, RICOCHET only monitors the software and applications that interact with the game and shuts down the moment you close the game. This is to ensure there are no malpractices or undesired monitoring in players' PCs.
The software is constantly getting updated, with new ways of punishing cheaters being added. It doesn't work all on its own, since the development team also takes action and bans users manually.
Although PC players benefit the most from the presence of an anti-cheat, console players can also get some benefits as they can also get queued up with cheaters if crossplay is enabled in their matchmaking settings.
