Destiny 3 might be in development according to a leak

Take this with a grain of salt Guardian

After the recent developer livestream, the entire Destiny 2 community is focused on what's coming to the game with The Final Shape. Although some exciting news was shared there, like the addition of a new Prismatic subclass, some exciting rumors about the future of the franchise are also circling around.

Just over a month ago, the addition of the Prismatic subclass was leaked by Reddit user 32638272187, who explained in a thread that Bungie was working on a system called prism "that will allow players to mix and match abilities from different subclasses."

This part of the leak has already been confirmed since this is how the new subclass will work once it gets added to the game. However, the user also claimed that Bungie was or is working on Destiny 3 under the codename "payback".

"One of the big changes for Destiny 3 is (was, again idk) for classes to no longer exist and allow any character to spec into any ability since lore wise there is no reason you couldn't," explained the user.

This would make sense as The Final Shape seems to be throwing out the window any class-exclusive abilities and perks, and Destiny 3's story should occur after the events of this upcoming expansion.

Bungie has made it clear that this new DLC is not the end for the franchise, so maybe a new game is indeed in the cards now that the sequel has been out for six and a half years.
