Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2024: Start date, rewards, and more

It's that time of the year again

The Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2024 are finally here. While usually an activity to close out a season, Guardian Games will be the perfect one for players to engage with amid delays to The Final Shape expansion alongside Into the Light.

On February 29's This Week In Destiny blog post, Bungie revealed everything players can expect with this year's Guardian Games, an event that pits all classes (Hunters, Warlocks, and Titans) in a friendly competition to determine who will get bragging rights until 2025.

This year, the event will be officially known as the Guardian Games All-Stars and feature a similar gameplay to previous years, albeit with some interesting changes for this edition.

Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2024 start date

The event will run from March 5, starting at the standard weekly reset on Tuesday, and run until March 21.

That gives you a total of three weeks to take part in it, get the rewards, and help your class come on top.

How to play the Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2024

The objective of Guardian Games All-Stars is straightforward: your class has to win most of the days during the three-week-long event by depositing numerous Medallions.

Eva Levante will provide a wide variety of Contender Cards to choose from, categorized into Gold, Platinum, and Diamond (which is a new tier introduced this year). The Diamond Medallions awarded by these cards are of high value and can influence the course of the day massively, so they’re limited to three per week.

Two of the Diamond Medallions are focused on end-game activities (one for PvE and one for PvP), and the third is a bit unique, that is, a Twitch Drop from watching a Destiny 2 stream for two hours during the week.

All Medallions deposited by Guardians in the Tower will be counted on a daily basis. The class with the highest average Medallion score for the day will be announced, and their crest will be displayed on the Tower podium for everyone to see.

In previous Guardian Games, class performance was determined by the total Medallion score, which was deemed unfair due to population imbalances. This year, Bungie has changed the scoring method to measure the average Medallion score of all players who deposited a Medallion on that day, separated by class.

Depending on your contributions to Guardian Games All-Stars, you'll also earn glows and the bragging rights that come with them. These are linked to your personal and group achievements, and there are five in total:

  • One for being the "best in Tower" Guardian
  • For being a member of the winning class of the day
  • A shoulder glow linked to your weekly performance in the Nightfall playlist
  • A second shoulder glow for your weekly performance in Supremacy and Gambit
  • And a bronze, silver, or gold glow with the shape of a laurel crown (depending on your class place) in the Friday coronation ceremony

At the end of the event, the class that wins the most days will be crowned the winner, and their Class Item will change to gold until the next event to remind everyone of their victory. On top of that, members of the winning class can also trigger some fancy fireworks in the Tower if they interact with the Guardian Games All-Stars statue.

To get Medallions, you'll have to play a slew of activities, but the recommended method is to kick-start your journey by completing the Zavala introductory quest. From then, keep an eye on the Focus Activity highlighted during the time you're farming Medallions, as playing it will unlock more prizes (up to Gold Medallions).

Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2024 rewards

There are plenty of rewards up for grabs when the Guardian Games All-Stars drop, including the Hullabaloo Heavy Grenade Launcher.

The Arc Compressed Wave Frame Heavy Grenade Launcher has arrived at the perfect time. This weapon is expected to receive a damage boost during Guardian Games All-Stars. It also has some exciting perks, including Voltshot in the third column and Chain Reaction in the fourth.

The two Guardian Games weapons from previous years will have new perk pools available this year. The Taraxippos, a Strand Lightweight Scout Rifle, will now be dropping with new perks like Slice or Precision Instrument. Meanwhile, The Title, a Void Aggressive Submachine Gun, will have brand new perks and an exciting new combo if you're into Void builds Repulsor Brace (now in the third column) and Surrounded.

There's also a Guardian Games All-Stars Memento. You'll have a chance to earn this special customization item when banking Gold and Platinum Medallions, but if you really want one, you better focus on getting those Diamond Medallions (which guarantees the Memento).

There's also a fancy-looking Sparrow; actually, it's called a Skimmer. This Allstar Vector will be available for everyone to earn during Guardian Games All-Stars. First, pick it up from Eva Levante after completing the onboarding mission quest.

However, if you want to permanently keep it after the event finishes, complete the Drop In quest.
