The third day of action at the BLAST R6 Major Manchester Phase 2 is finally here. Today, three teams will follow in Team Secret and FURIA Esports' footsteps, as both rosters have already qualified for the playoffs.
At the same time, the losers of the elimination matches will be knocked out of the BLAST R6 Major Manchester as the final three Phase 2 games will be played tomorrow.
Here's everything you need to know about what's coming later today!
Team BDS vs. CAG Osaka
Team BDS and CAG Osaka will meet in the first elimination match of the day in Manchester. The loser of this game will be sent home, while the winner will play tomorrow for one of the last three playoff spots.
Following the Europeans' performances in the Europe League 2024 Stage 1, the majority of viewers expected to see the Six Jönköping Major champions getting great results. Unfortunately for them, Team BDS have already lost twice as a 6-8 defeat against FURIA Esports was followed by a 7-5 win against Spacestation Gaming and a 7-8 loss against PSG Talon.
Meanwhile, CAG Osaka's defeats against SCARZ and Beastcoast were followed by a surprising 2-0 victory against the international debutants E1 Sports.
While Team BDS is the clear favorite to take the win against the Japanese, it's worth remembering their last international clash as CAG Osaka defeated the Europeans by 2-1 at the Six Invitational 2023.
Beastcoast vs. Into the Breach
At the same time, Beastcoast and Into the Breach will face off against for the first time in Siege's history as the loser will be sent back home.
Into the Breach began their Phase 2 run with a 7-4 victory against Spacestation Gaming, which was followed by a 5-7 loss against Bleed Esports and a flawless defeat against M80. Meanwhile, Beastcoast's 4-7 defeat against DarkZero Esports was followed by a 7-3 victory against CAG Osaka. Unfortunately for the Americans, they lost on maximum overtime against the Six Invitational 2024 grand finalists FaZe Clan.
FaZe Clan vs. PSG Talon
At the Six Sweden Major played in November 2021, FaZe Clan became the nightmare of every South Korean fan. Despite DWG KIA's best efforts in their semi-final encounter, the Brazilians sent the mint squad back home after winning the final map of the series in a heated maximum overtime on Oregon.
Two years and a half later, FaZe Clan could crush the dreams of another South Korean roster as PSG Talon are one map away from a historical Top 8 finish in Manchester. What will not change is that a couple of months after Fabian "Fabian" Hällsten took over the blue and red squad, PSG Talon have already produced the best result for a South Korean roster at a BLAST R6 Major.
Bleed Esports vs. M80
Bleed Esports and M80 will meet for the third time since November 2023 as the winner will qualify for the BLAST R6 Major Manchester Playoffs.
The record between both teams puts Bleed Esports as the favorites to take the win. In Atlanta, the Asian roster defeated M80 by 7-4. Meanwhile, the red and black roster got a 2-1 win against the Brazilian-majority roster at the Six Invitational 2024.
Team Liquid vs. SCARZ
Team Liquid and SCARZ will feature in the last elimination match of the day. After qualifying for Phase 2 from Phase 1, the Brazilians were put between a rock and a hard place following their narrow defeats against M80 and FaZe Clan. Yesterday, they managed to stay alive in the competition after a 2-1 victory against Spacestation Gaming.
Meanwhile, SCARZ's 7-4 victory against their fellows CAG Osaka was followed by 4-7 and 2-7 defeats against FURIA Esports and DarkZero Esports, respectively.
Team Bliss vs. DarkZero Esports
Last but not least, Team Bliss and DarkZero Esports will clash in a match where the winner will qualify for the BLAST R6 Major Manchester Playoffs.
The Australians' bright start in the competition, including victories against E1 Sports and M80, was stopped by Team Secret. They will have a second chance against the purple organization, who previously fell against Team Secret and beat Beastcoast and SCARZ.
