After getting a few re-releases with Fortune's Keep and Rebirth Island, players will finally receive a completely new Warzone map called Area 99.

This was revealed by the official Call of Duty social accounts when teasing what's getting announced during the COD Next 2024 event, which is less than a week away at the time of writing.

The following image was posted, where we can see that one of the map's POI will be an abandoned town in a desertic location:

As you can read in the image, live gameplay of the map will be showcased during the event and there's also going to be a deep dive section with Raven Software.

Rumors suggest this is going to be a Resurgence map, meaning the size will be among the likes of Rebirth Island, Vondel, or Fortune's Keep. Leaker HeyImAlaix on X (formerly Twitter) also reports that the map will replace Rebirth Island on the rotation when it gets added in Season 1 of Black Ops 6.

In other words, players won't be able to play on Rebirth Island at all after the integration of Area 99 if rumors turn out to be true.

This new map comes as a surprise to many, especially since it was previously reported that Verdansk wasn't going to be ready for the release of Black Ops 6.

The announcement confirms that the first map from the original Warzone is now coming at a later date during the Black Ops 6 cycle, with rumors pointing at a release after Season 2 at the very least.
