Here's everything you need to know about the Apex Legends Global Series 2024 Championship:

Dates and venue

The Apex Legends Global Series 2024 Championship will be played between January 29 to February 2. It will take place in Sapporo, Japan, as all of the matches will be played in the Daiwa House PREMIST DOME. The venue has a full capacity of around 42,000 people.

Format and teams

The Apex Legends Global Series 2024 Championship has been divided into three stages: the group stage, the bracket stage, and the finals. Here's everything you need to know about each one:

Group Stage (Jan. 29 to Jan. 30)

The 40 teams have been divided into four groups of ten rosters each. Each group will follow a round-robin format, where each group will play against the other groups.

Each team will play in three match series, which include a total of 18 group stage games. After that, all of the 40 teams will move to the Bracket Stage based off their scores in the Group Stage. While the Top 20 teams will advance to the Winners Bracket, the Bottom 20 teams will move to the Losers Bracket Round 1.

Bracket Stage (Jan. 31 to Feb. 1)

The Bracket Stage will start on January 31 and all of the matches will be 1 Match Series games.

The first match will include the Bottom 20 teams from the Group Stage. The Top 10 teams will move to the Losers Bracket Round 2 while the Bottom 10 will be eliminated.

One day later, on February 1, the Top 20 teams from the Group Stage will play in the Winners Bracket. The Top 10 teams will move to the Finals while the Bottom 10 will fall to the Losers Bracket Round 2.

On the same day, the losers from the Winners Bracket will play against the winners of the Losers Bracket Round 1. The Top 10 teams will qualify for the Finals while the Bottom 10 will be eliminated.

Finals (Feb. 2)

The remaining 20 teams will compete in a Match Point Format game, where the first team to hit 50 points and secure a first-place finish in upcoming matches will win the competition. The remaining teams are ranked by the total points they collected in the series.

What are the favorites to win the ALGS 2024 Championship?

Alliance at the Esports World Cup 2024

With 40 teams in the competition, we understand fans may want to go straight to the point and know what teams are favorites to take the win home. Here are five squads you should follow closely:

TSM

TSM had an outstanding 2023 season after winning the ALGS 2023 Split 1 Playoffs, finishing in second place at the ALGS 2023 Split 2 Playoffs, and winning the ALGS 2023 Championship. All in all, the American roster collected around USD$1.1M in prize pole alone.

However, the team hasn't been as successful in 2024. After finishing in 17th place at the ALGS 2024 Split 1 Playoffs, Phillip "ImperialHal" Dosen joined Team Falcons as TSM brought in Nelson "zap" Bangs. Four months after the move, TSM finished in fourth place at the ALGS 2024 Split 2 Playoffs.

Despite the team's results taking a nosedive, we believe the current world champions must still be seen as one of the favorites to win in Sapporo.

Alliance

Alliance is one of the old dogs in Apex Legends. Led by John "Hakis" Håkansson, who joined the green esports organization in January 2020, Alliance is one of the favorites to win the competition after stealing the show in the Esports World Cup 2024.

The team's win in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, saw the roster collecting USD$600,000. One month later, the Europeans finished in third place at the ALGS 2024 Split 2 Playoffs, played in Mannheim, Germany, only behind Spacestation Gaming and Gaimin Gladiators.

Team Falcons

Since joining the Apex Legends esports scene in May 2024, Team Falcons has established itself as one of the leading teams in the game. So far, the roster's best result is the players' second-place finish in the Esports World Cup 2024.

In September 2024, Team Falcons parted ways with Noyan "Genburten" Ozkose to sign Ben "Wxltzy" Walton, who signed from Moist Esports.

Shopify Rebellion

In September 2024, Spacestation Gaming announced the decision to part ways with the astronauts' Apex Legends Roster, only three days after winning the ALGS 2024 Split 2 Playoffs. Logically, the team's decision left the fans confused.

On September 29, Moist Esports revealed the signings of the former astronauts Brody "Xynew" Geissler and Israel "Koyful" Lawrence as they would team up with Matthew "Emtee" Trengove.

Finally, in January 2025, Moist Esports was acquired by Shopify Rebellion, which means the players will compete in Sapporo under the American organization.

Fnatic

Playing on home soil, we have decided to close out this ranking with Fnatic. The orange roster has been delivering great performances in a consistent manner, finishing in third place at the ALGS 2024 Split 1 Playoffs and in sixth place at the ALGS 2024 Split 2 Playoffs. However, the team finished in 18th place at the Esports World Cup 2024.

After the team's performance in Mannheim, Germany, the orange roster added Takamasa "Meltstera" Kawai to replace Satoki "satuki" Sugatani. Therefore, Fnatic's roster has now been playing together for four months.

Talent

The talent that will be part of the Apex Legends Global Series 2024 Championship was unveiled on January 21.
