Rainbow Six Siege Y7S1 is coming and there is already an operator leak

The community is torn about the possible design of the next operator.

Rainbow Six Y7S1 is coming. But when? Whomst?

Rainbow Six Siege is currently in Year 6 but it's coming to a close very, very soon. While it brought us Thorn and an Outback map rework in Operation High Calibre, the next season may be even more hype.

Kicking off with the Six Invitational 2022, Rainbow Six Y7S1 is largely a mystery but leakers have already been hard at work finding out what is in store for Siege fans. And it's looking like a great start to Year 7.

When is Rainbow Six Siege Y7S1 coming out?

Per usual, expect to have Y7S1 revealed officially at the Six Invitational, which starts on February 8. Like previous years, fans can expect to hear a lot of information about the content and updates coming with Y7S1 as well as the rest of the Year 7 plans.

While changes will be available for testing about three weeks before the update is launched, Y7S1 is officially here in March 2022. The exact date is currently unknown.

Rainbow Six Siege operator leaks: Azami may be coming in Y7S1

Who?

A trusted leaker known as Benjamin Strike found out last year that the next operator in Rainbow Six Siege is called "Azami."

But who is Azami? Not much is known about this mysterious person. An in-game leak has shown the possible design for Azami, who will be a defender from Japan. She will have two-speed and two-armor.

Her weapon loadout is speculated to be the following:

  • Primary: 9x19VSN, ACS-12
  • Secondary: D-50
  • Gadgets: Barbed Wire, Impact Grenade

Rainbow Six Siege community reacts to Azami

When Azami's leak was shared to Reddit, it was received with mixed opinions from R6 fans. Some felt that her style didn't really fit with the rest of the operators in the cast and instead looked like she belonged in a game like Cyberpunk 2077. Others said Rogue Company. Others even felt she looked like a "stereotype" found in a TV show.

While fans called for Azami to have more armor, some players noted that the design was most likely not finished. The next operator won't be available for the next two months, meaning there is still time for developers to work on their appearance.

Ubisoft reveals official teaser for R7S1 operator

The next operator was shared in a short teaser video on Twitter, the first official look at Azami.

All that could really be seen was the operator's purple suit and the kunai, a small, sharp weapon. The kunai was revealed in a leak back in January, making all of the previous rumors seem even more valid now. But we won't know the new operator's true identity and information until Year 7 is here.

Rainbow Six Siege Y7S1 may have a map rework

At the moment, the Rainbow Six Siege community is not aware of any public plans for a map rework. Of course, Ubisoft may bring up some map changes during the Six Invitational 2022 panel.
