Evil Geniuses vs. PENTA Sports | Post-Match Roundup | Season 7 Pro League Quarter-Finals

Catch up on what happened in the Season 7 Quarter Finals game between Evil Geniuses and PENTA Sports.

This quarter final began very strong from both teams, with the last map, Border, coming down to the wire in a nail-biting finish.

PENTA Sports: Fabian, Pengu, jNSzki, Goga, Kantoraketti

Evil Geniuses: Canadian, BC, Necrox, nvK, Yung

Evil Geniuses started off the ban phase by banning maps Coastline, Consulate, and Skyscraper. PENTA Sports fired back by taking Clubhouse, Kafe, Chalet out of play. This left Evil Geniuses to choose Oregon, and PENTA Sports to choose Bank, making the decider map Border.

In the first map, Oregon, both PENTA Sports and Evil Geniuses won their first attacking rounds. However from here PENTA Sports took two rounds in a row. Evil Geniuses then proceed to win four rounds in a row, dominating their map pick. While the NA team started off a little shaky, only winning some of their rounds by the skin of their teeth, they found their coordination by the end of the map. PENTA Sports sub for this match, Kantoraketti, was able to secure ten kills, making him the top fragger in this map. However, Oregon went to Evil Geniuses 5-3 despite his best efforts.

On Bank, Evil Geniuses did not carry their momentum from Oregon, and were unable to close out the series here. PENTA Sports started off the first round with an odd strategy, attacking the bottom floor through the garage. These strange but innovative strategies that PENTA Sports used allowed them to be able to close out this map, giving them their first map this series by a score of 5-2.

Border started off completely in PENTA Sports favor. PENTA Sports proceeded to win four rounds in a row, with a flawless victory on the first round. However, Evil Geniuses was able to win three rounds in a row, with BC showing a great amount of control, clutching it out on match point in multiple 1vX scenarios. However, when it came time for for Evil Geniuses to push into overtime, PENTA Sports was able to end the match there at 5-3. Both Kantoraketti and BC had amazing plays this match, with Kanto having a 14 kill game and BC going ham with his explosives on match point.

PENTA Sports will move on to the semi-finals, facing Rogue tomorrow at 11 am EST. Evil Geniuses, unfortunately, will be enjoying the rest of the Season 7 LAN from the audience. We wish the best for the rest of the teams competing at LAN!
