High Calibre is the latest (and last) release of Year 6 and it's bringing an entirely new battle pass to Rainbow Six Siege. While the latest battle pass is a grind, it comes with an abundance of rewards.
High Calibre will have two tracks, similar to other Year 6 battle passes. One is free and the other is at a premium of about 1200 R6 Credits. The free track includes Alpha Packs and cosmetics, including headgear, uniforms, and weapon skins. The premium track allows players to use the new operator Thorn early.
Rainbow Six Siege's High Calibre battle pass has an infinite number of tiers. That means endless grinding for players that so choose.
There are 100 "official" tiers that offer a variety of cosmetics, including operator and weapon skins. After Tier 100, players will unlock an Alpha Pack for every five levels worth of XP.
The first 18 tiers have the real rewards, however, including new cosmetics and an operator portrait. Operator portraits are new to Rainbow Six Siege, along with many other customization options.
Said Art Director Alexander Karpazis: "We're finally rolling out the last changes to customization that we've been talking about for a long time. This includes mixing and matching elite customization with regular customization. We're introducing new things like character portraits. You can pick the background for each character. You can customize gadget skins of operators. We're also letting players choose what kind of victory celebration they want to use as well."
Thorn is the newest operator in R6. She can be played early if fans choose to buy the premium battle pass.
Hailing from Ireland, Thorn is a weapon expert that comes with a very powerful SMG, the UZK50GI. She also has the Razer Bloom Shell gadget that can be thrown onto any surface. Enemies will hear a ticking warning them to back away or be killed, making Thorn a defensive operator who can apply immense pressure to the opposing team.
Thorn grew up on a farm in an area of Ireland known for military training. She had five older brothers while growing up. Torn joined the Garda Siochana, where she stayed for four years before joining their elite tactical branch, the Emergency Response Unit.
Thorn quickly rose up the ranks as a tactical weapons expert. She easily excelled at almost everything she participated in and is never afraid to stand up for herself.
The battle pass isn't only about Thorn, however. There are plenty of cosmetics to keep Rainbow Six Siege fans invested in the grind.
