Straight from what is arguably the second-toughest group in Sweden, SANDBOX Gaming have locked a spot at the Sweden Major playoffs. The Koreans have also qualified for the Six Invitational 2022 through the Global Standings.

This clash against Team Vitality was a very important one, especially after the Koreans defeated the French the day before on Kafe (7-3). A win today would not only confirm SANDBOX’s places at SI 2022 and the Major playoffs, but also knock out Team Vitality from the Major playoffs race.

Despite redundant losses against the Mexico Major champions Team oNe (2-7, 1-7), the Koreans had strong performances against Team Vitality and DarkZero Esports. Their most recent victory over the French squad and Team oNe’s victory over the North Americans saw the Koreans and Brazilians both make it through the group stage.

SANDBOX dominated their clash against Team Vitality from the beginning to the end. Playing on Oregon, the Koreans won five out of their six offensive rounds, which gave them a huge advantage heading to the second half. There, the French side could not do anything to stop their rivals, and crumbled 1-7.3

The duo of Kim “EnvyTaylor” Seong-soo and Song “SyAIL” Dong-seon were fundamental to the team’s result with 11 kills and once clutch each.

Before today, only one match had been played on Oregon; Team Empire’s loss to the other Korean team, DWG KIA.
