EUL Week 2 Preview: G2 Esports face Rogue in crucial clash, Heroic to keep momentum against Team BDS

The second week of the European League is finally here.

While North America and Brazil have already had four play days, Europe is still in the very beginning. Keep on reading to find out about today’s Siege matches in the EUL.

Crucial match for G2 Esports and Rogue

For those unaware, G2 Esports’ headquarters are located just 400 meters away from the Berlin Major venue. As qualifying for the event is practically a must for the team, things haven’t started exactly as they wished.

G2 Esports were remarkably sloppy against Wolves Esports. The French squad clutched three rounds, obtaining a regulation victory despite Valentin “risze” Liradelfo going 0-12.

Today, G2 Esports faces another roster whose start to the stage was marred by mistakes – Rogue. William “Spoit” Löfstedt was inconsistent in his European League debut and a 6-3 lead over MNM Gaming turned into a 6-8 loss.

Although it’s just the second week of the stage, points are very important – especially when facing a potential top four opponent. No team here can afford a loss.

Heroic face Team BDS to keep first place

Since the start of Stage 1, Heroic have been the team to follow in Europe. Leading the region standings with an iron fist, the Danish brand have lost just one EUL match out of 10 this season.

Team BDS will be the team’s opposition this week in a game that could stop Heroic’s momentum. Last time both teams met, Heroic defeated BDS on Chalet by 7-5. Another victory today would likely see Heroic keeping the first place, while BDS could be pushed outside of the top four.

NAVI as a top-four contender?

Natus Vincere were one of the few teams in Europe to make changes, bringing Jamie “Skiddy” Diamond to the starting line up and making Alonso “al0kaka” Díez the roster’s coach.

So far, so good. The team defeated Team Secret on the first play day of the stage, obtaining the three points. This week, they face PWNZ, with the UKIN side being the favorites to win. A victory today will see them have six points in just two games to give them a solid start towards Berlin qualification.

Winning points now is very important, as Natus Vincere will face G2 Esports and Team BDS in the first European League super week, which will take place in a fortnight. Facing the tough teams later in the stage gives Skiddy time to adapt and also gives the team time to adapt to al0kaka’s coaching.

Meanwhile, Team Secret will face Outsiders in what’s a very difficult game to predict. Team Secret had two debutants last week, with Szymon “Saves” Kamieniak and Lucas “Savage” Alves joining the team just before the start of the stage.

The day will finish with a match between Wolves Esports and MNM Gaming, two contenders to be in the fight for a ticket to the Berlin Major.
