Who's going out in groups? Every possibility summarized

Yesterday we saw BDS exit the 2022 Six Invitational. Today three more teams will join them. In total 10 out of the 15 teams in groups A, B, and D are still at risk and multiple three-way ties can still occur.

Read on for the rundown on the various possibilities from today's upcoming games:

Group A

10am CET: Soniqs vs MNM & Empire vs SANDBOX 

Starting with Group A, this one’s fairly straightforward. If SANDBOX don’t win 2-0 they’re out. 

If they do sweep Empire, however, then Soniqs would need to win at least one map versus MNM or they’re out. Should SB win 2-0 and Soniqs get a point, then Empire exits in last place, as they come out bottom in the head-to-head.

While Empire were looking really strong, yesterday’s loss against MNM means SANDBOX does have a slim chance at surviving yet. MNM Gaming may be able to save their European brethren from elimination also.

Group B

7pm CET: FaZe vs CAG & SSG vs Rogue

Once again, if CYCLOPS don’t beat FaZe Clan in a 2-0 scoreline then CAG flies home early, making this the second SI running they’ve not made it to the playoffs.

If CAG does sweep FaZe, then Rogue will go out with a 0-2 scoreline against SSG while a Rogue win would send FaZe out.

Finally, if CAG wins 2-0 and Rogue loses 1-2, this would create a three-way tie on four points between FaZe, Rogue, and CAG. Each team would have three mini-league points meaning it would come down to mini-league round difference. On this metric CAG sits on -6, Rogue is on -1, and FaZe is on +7. CAG and FaZe’s count can still change, however, as they will be facing each other.

Group C

4pm CET: Elevate vs TSM & DZ vs FURIA

Group C was already decided yesterday as BDS finished in last place. TSM, FURIA, and Elevate can still fight for first place while DarkZero can only peak in second

Group D

1pm CET: OxG vs MIBR & NAVI vs DWG

While NAVI looks to be between a rock and a hard place in Group D, its the two Brazilian squads who should be most worried. 

Firstly, should MIBR lose 0-2, then they finish in last place.

Should MIBR lose 1-2, then oNe comes last no matter the NAVI result.

Should MIBR win 2-1, then a 0-2 result for NAVI means they exit in last, any other result sends oNe out.

Finally, should MIBR win 2-0 then a 0-2 result for NAVI means they exit in last, any other result sends Oxygen out.

This makes Group D the closest as it comes to an end with four teams still on the edge of the exit. Considering DWG has yet to lose a map, this does somewhat narrow down the likely results. Should DWG keep up their record then the math becomes a lot simpler; if MIBR wins then NAVI goes home, otherwise one of the Brazilian teams goes home.
