According to an announcement from the official Ubisoft Rainbow Six Siege Esports Twitter account, members of six teams have tested positive for COVID-19 upon arriving in Sweden.

The affected teams are Team Empire, Natus Vincere, FURIA, Oxygen Esports, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and Elevate.

The teams are not disqualified from the event, far from it. The necessary accommodations are being made for players to be able to participate in the event from their hotel rooms, while the rest of the team that tested negative competes from the event venue.

The announcement did not specify which players tested positive, nor did it specify how many players from each team tested positive. According to the official Sanitary Guidelines , players that test positive aren't completely finished with the competition.

While at the event, players that test positive will be allowed to remain in the competition if they so desire. According to the Guidelines page, the protocol for a positive test while in Sweden states:

  • The player will be placed in isolation and all necessary follow-up measures will be taken to ensure the safety of all participants and staff during the competition.
  • If the team and the impacted player desire to proceed with the competition, we will do our best to accommodate remote play, in isolation in the hotel rooms.
  • The team will be provided the necessary support to ensure they are repatriated in optimal safety conditions for them and the general public.

According to tweets from Davide "FoxA" Bucci and Anthony "HOP3Z" Nizzardo, Oxygen's situation is manageable. Their coach, HOP3Z has tested positive for COVID-19 and will be coaching from his hotel room, but the team will still be able to all play together in the venue.

Natus Vincere player Jack "Doki" Robertson tweeted that he tested positive, and will be competing from his hotel room.

According to an announcement from NiP, the team's coach Jair "Mity" Soares tested positive. Andre "BOB" Cardoso will replace him at the venue with the team

The status of the other teams mentioned is unknown at time of publishing.
