Six big questions to be answered at Six Invitational 2022

There are some storylines coming into SI 2022. How many of these will have a conclusion?

Time between events beings several questions. Some of these big questions will be answered, some will not. However, these are six of the biggest questions looming over this iteration of the Six Invitational.

Can BDS finally make a Finals?

Europe’s most consistent, best team has yet to make the grand finals of an S Tier international event. They’ve gone as far as the semifinals, but have been bounced from the tournament before then. In the era of Brazilian dominance, it’s unlikely that BDS will win, but a world exists in which BDS finally makes it to a finals.

Will NA show up?

The past two Majors have not been kind to North America. While reports of the region's demise are contested by those who cite positive COVID-19 test-crippled teams and other factors, results are results.

If NA doesn’t show up here, there is no more defense. No more excuses, no more caveats. At SI 2021, NA was the clear second-best region behind Brazil. But back at SI 2020, they were by far and away the best. At SI 2022, who knows.

How much longer will the LATAM era last?

Nothing lasts forever, especially in the mercurial world of esports where constant balance changes are required to freshen up the game. The LATAM era is here – should a team from the region win SI 2022, it’ll be the fourth Major tournament in a row a LATAM team has won.

It’ll also be the fifth Major tournament in a row that a LATAM team has made grand finals. It would be foolish to say that the LATAM era is definitely coming to a close, but there’s always room for possibility, and as previously stated, nothing lasts forever.

Can DWG KIA take their game to the next level?

By far, DWG KIA is the easiest team to pull for at SI 2022. They’re the unassuming demons of Rainbow Six Siege, and have consistently been improving in international competitions this year. The all-Korean squad are right there — they were a mere round away from making an international grand finals in Sweden. Can they make it there on the return trip to Sweden?

Can FaZe Clan repeat?

One of the defining features of the LATAM era is how much better the Brazilian teams, holistically, are than the competition.

No LATAM team has had a repeat performance.n fact, the LATAM teams that have won a title have underperformed at the next competition. NiP was bounced in groups at Mexico after they won SI, Team oNe was knocked out in quarters in Sweden after winning Mexico. FaZe will be looking to break that trend.

Will Team Liquid’s changes bring back international glory?

Team Liquid went through massive changes after underperforming at the Mexico Major – and they look nothing like the Team Liquid of the past. This will be the first big international competition for 2/5ths of their roster — how will they react? Can Team Liquid become the fourth all-Brazilian roster in a row to win a major event?
